Chen, McKee Top Ranked Opponents on First Day at LSU

Rookies Tiffany Chen and Clare McKee picked up singles wins over ITA-ranked opponents from LSU as the Princeton women's tennis team opened the LSU Invitational Friday night in Baton Rouge.
Chen defeated 38th-ranked Jessica Golovin in three sets, rebounding from a second-set tiebreak loss to take the match in a third-set tiebreak, 7-5, 6-7(4), 7-6(2). It's Chen's second win over an ITA-ranked opponent as a Tiger along with her September win over Mississippi's Allie Sanford. McKee beat 107th-ranked Abby Owens of LSU in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, in her first win over an ITA-ranked foe.
Princeton started the day with wins in two of its three doubles contests against players from Tulane, and along with Princeton taking three of five matches against players from LSU, Caroline Joyce was a winner in both. She teamed with Nicole Kalhorn to beat Sade Atkinson and Naz Karagoz from Tulane, 7-5, and defeated LSU's Skylar Holloway 6-1, 1-6, 6-4.
Princeton will face player from Rice and LSU in doubles Saturday, starting at 10 a.m., followed by singles against players from Tulane.
