Women's Tennis Team Opens Dual Season With Twinbill Sweep

The season-opening doubleheader brought two wins for the Princeton women's tennis team as the Tigers beat both Delaware and Seton Hall by 5-2 scores in Jadwin Gym Saturday.
The Tigers will head to Texas for a three-match trip beginning Wednesday at UT Arlington before heading to Texas A&M Thursday and Rice Friday.
Against Delaware (0-2), Caroline Joyce and Gaby Pollner were winners in both singles and doubles, as Joyce and Sivan Krems were at first and Sara Goodwin teamed with Clare McKee at third to help Princeton win the doubles point before Pollner and Katrine Steffensen made it a sweep at second.
Joyce and Pollner started singles play with wins and Catalina Vives had the clincher on court four before Alanna Woolf provided another straight-set win to push the lead to 5-0. Delaware won the last two matches on court in third sets.
Against Seton Hall (0-1), Princeton again opened with a doubles sweep with Joyce and Pollner, Krems and Steffensen, and Goodwin and Vives teaming up for the match's first point. Steffensen, Tiffany Chen and Wolff then won the first three singles matches to be decided, all in straight sets, before Goodwin concluded an unbeaten day with a win at sixth. Anna Fajnorova and Michal Matson each won a match decided in a tiebreak third set to make the 5-2 final.
