Four Tigers Named All-Ivy League

PRINCETON, N.J. (11/16/16) - Four members of the Princeton men's soccer team have been named All-Ivy League, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday, Nov. 16.
Seniors Patrick Barba and Greg Seifert were both named first-team All-Ivy League, while sophomore midfielder Sean McSherry was named to the second team and senior defender Mark Romanowski was an honorable mention selection.
For the fourth consecutive year Princeton led the league in scoring (Cameron Porter 2013 and 2014; Thomas Sanner in 2015) as Greg Seifert totaled 26 points on a league-high 11 goals while adding four assists. Slated to play the season in his regular position at defense, Seifert was moved to the forward position during Princeton's third game of the season and scored twice that game - against No. 22 Rider - scoring on both his shots on goal. He went on to have three-point games in wins over FDU and Rutgers, scored twice at Cornell, and had his best outing a five-point affair at Seton Hall on two goals and one assist. Seifert had a five-game goal scoring streak between Oct. 11-29.
Barba captures first-team honors for the second straight year. The captain started in all 17 games and played more minutes than any other player on the team. Besides helping to limit opponents to putting 37.7 percent of their shots on net (83/220), he was an offensive threat as well, scoring twice and adding three assists. He scored the game-winning goal over FDU and had three points against Harvard. He entered the season with one assist in his career.
Sean McSherry led the team off the bench in scoring, and was second overall. He had three goals and three assists in 16 games. McSherry was a factor in both of Princeton's goals in a tie with Dartmouth, scoring one and assisting on another, had goals against Rutgers and Penn and assists versus Columbia and Yale.
Romanowski started in all 17 games on defense and helped to hold teams to just 83 shots on net out of 220 (37.7 percent). Additionally, he had an assist in three consecutive games (vs. Boston University, Drexel and FDU) before having a three-point game at Georgetown with a goal and an assist. Romanowski had two points prior to this season.
Princeton finished the season 7-7-3 overall and 1-3-3 in the Ivy League.
