Alarie Honored As Ivy Co-Rookie of the Week
November 28, 2016 | Women's Basketball
PRINCETON, N.J. – For the second straight week, Bella Alarie was honored as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week, sharing the award with Harvard's Katie Benzan.
Â
Despite not being the offensive focal point at Delaware, Alarie contributed in a variety of ways. The freshman snagged four rebounds, blocked three shots and swiped two passes in the Tigers' close loss to the Blue Hens on Tuesday.
Â
On Friday vs. Rutgers, Alarie had a team-best 14 points and added seven rebounds. She was vital in helping Princeton hold Rutgers to 20.4 percent shooting (11-of-54). The Scarlet Knights scored under 10 points in two quarters and turned the ball over 20 times in the game.
Â
The freshman had another double-digit outing at UMBC on Sunday, registering 10 points. Alarie finished one rebound shy of her second career double-double, dropping in two assists and blocking two more shots. In the fourth quarter, the Tigers clamped down on defense, allowing just one bucket over the final 10 minutes to pick up its second straight victory.
Â
Alarie has made at least two three-pointers in four of the team's six games this year and is currently on a streak of three consecutive multi-block outings. She has also made 13 of her 14 free throw attempts this season.
Â
Princeton will have another in-state rival, Seton Hall, head to Jadwin Gymnasium on Wednesday (Nov. 30). Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. The matchup will be featured on the Ivy League Digital Network and ESPN3. Fans attending the game will receive a Tiger Up t-shirt.
