Sherry Inducted into NorCal Chapter Hall of Fame

Princeton women's lacrosse alumna Theresa Sherry '04 was inducted into the NorCal chapter of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame in this past month.
Sherry was a three-time All-America at Princeton and was a top-five finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy in 2004, while also being on a nominee in 2003. A four-time All-Ivy League selection, Sherry was named the Ivy League Player of the Year in 2004, the same year Inside Lacrosse tabbed her the Midfielder of the Year. Sherry helped the Tigers win two national championships during her time at Old Nassau, in 2002 and 2003, and was a member of the NCAA All-Tournament team in 2003
"Theresa was one of the most exciting and dynamic players in Princeton lacrosse history," Princeton head coach Chris Sailer said. "But beyond the honors lies the heart of a champion – a player who defined relentlessness on the field. Theresa played with an edge and a confidence that made her great. When the game was on the line, she wanted the ball and she delivered, as she did in the 2003 national championship game when she scored the game winner in overtime to earn the victory for Princeton. Theresa was a fierce competitor who loved the game and was driven to win. She hated losing and would do everything in her power to win the small battles for her team. She'd spend countless hours working on her shot and moves, and expected everyone around to her share her passion and commitment for the game. It seems fitting to me that Theresa now runs a lacrosse non-profit named Tenacity – because that word, more than any other, defines who she was and is as an athlete, coach and person. I have so much respect for Theresa, how she has grown and all that she has done in her post-Princeton life to spread the game she loves to the West Coast. Her impact has been significant. Congratulations Theresa, on this well deserved honor."
After Princeton, Sherry coached at Smith College, Amherst College, and The University of California, Berkeley, earning MPSF Coach of the Year in 2008 for Cal. She currently is the CEO of The Tenacity Project, Inc. Tenacity is a non-profit organization that works to empower girls through sports, specifically using lacrosse to teach lessons they can use to navigate the rest of their lives.
