Swimming & Diving Teams Head To Providence For Three-Day Brown Invitational
December 01, 2016 | Men's Swimming and Diving, Women's Swimming and Diving
MEET CENTRAL PAGES: Men l Women
The Princeton men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete in the three-day Bruno Invitational this weekend, as they begin the final stretch of the 2016 portion of their seasons. The Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center, site of the 2017 Ivy League Women's Championships, will host the event, which also features Dartmouth, Rider, and Rutgers.
The meet will be very similar to the Ivy Championships, with morning prelims and evening finals in most events (see full schedule below). The Bruno Invitational will also serve as the dual meets against both Brown and Dartmouth for Princeton, which opened its Ivy League seasons the weekend before Thanksgiving in Ithaca. The women posted victories over both Cornell and Penn to improve to 2-1, 2-0 Ivy, while the men split their tri-meet. Penn took the win, while Princeton topped Cornell to move to 1-1 on the young season.
The Princeton women have already seen big impacts from their Class of 2020. Both Christie Chong and Gianna Garcia were double winners in Ithaca, while Shaelyn Choi also earned a victory. Sophomore Monica McGrath has earned a win in each Princeton competition of the season so far, including in the 500 against Cornell and Penn.
The Tiger men will have terrific memories when they walk into the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. After all, the last time they were there, this happened. They'll be looking forward to shaking off any negative feelings from their previous Cornell-Penn weekend, though there were highlights in victories from Corey Okubo and the 400 free relay.
Following the weekend, both teams will head to New York City on Friday, Dec. 9, to take on Columbia in dual meets. Those will be the final competitions for both Princeton teams until after the break.
