Columbia Claims Home Win Over Men's Swimming & Diving Team

The Columbia men's swimming & diving team won nine of 16 events Friday evening to post a 167.5-132.5 victory over Princeton Friday night at Uris Pool in New York City. The competition marked the end of the 2016 portion of the Princeton season.
Corey Okubo and Ben Schafer were both double winners for the Tigers, who will return to DeNunzio Pool Saturday, Jan. 7, for an afternoon showdown against Navy on the Ivy League Digital Network.
Okubo gave Princeton its first win by taking the 200 fly in 1:48.83, and he followed later by winning the 200 back in 1:48.32. Schafer won the 100 free in 45.12, and he won the 100 back in 49.10. The two other individual winners for Princeton were Cole Buese, who won the 500 free in 4:34.54, and Nathan Makarewicz, who won the 1-meter diving event with 354.60 points.
The quartet of Christian Feiler, Alexander Lewis, Schafer and Buese ended the meet by winning the 200 free relay in 1:22.75.
