Barowski Sets School Record in 400 at Fasttrack Invite

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (2/12/16) - Senior Cecilia Barowski put up a school record in the 400 to highlight the Fasttrack National Invitational at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday, Feb. 12.
Barowski finished the lap in 54.39, which was second overall and the top collegiate time in the 400 Invitational race. Her time succeeds the previous record of 54.66 set by Agatha Offorjebe '09 from 2008 at Penn State.
Junior Lizzie Bird won the 3,000 Invitational with a time of 9:18.42. It was more than seven seconds ahead of the other 13 runners and the first 3,000 she has competed in this season.
In other invitational events, which featured both collegiate and professional athletes was junior Allison Harris. Harris set the Ivy League record in the pole vault last weekend, and this weekend cleared 3.90m to take third.
One week after recording the best pentathlon score in the school history, senior Taylor Morgan jumped to 5.52 in the long jump to place fifth.
In the collegiate races and field events the Tigers claimed three victories.
Senior Summer Hanson was won the 800 at 2:14.66. She was followed by classmate Michelle Tracy in third place at 2:15.33, her third consecutive PR, and freshman Laura Hergenrother who also PR'ed with a 2:15.94.
Sophomore Melissa Reed took first in the 3,000 with a PR of 9:57.09. She was the only runner out of 21 to breach the 10-minute mark.
Other top performances on the track included freshman Allison Glossinger's third place time of 58.49 in the 400 and junior Rachael Chacko's 5:02.55 in the mile, which garnered her third place as well.
In the relays, the 4x400 took fourth place with Barowski anchoring. Led off by junior Elisa Steele, followed by senior Meghan McMullin and sophomore Mattie Baron, the relay posted a time of 3:47.57.
Freshman Kerri Davidson had a stellar meet as she won the long jump and was sixth in the triple. Davidson leapt to 5.35 in the long jump and was followed by freshman Mikaela Sawyer in fourth place with a jump of 5.22 and freshman Ellie Randolph in fifth at 5.21. Davidson reached 11.71 in the triple.
