Senior Swimmers Cap Memorable DeNunzio Career With 180-112 Win vs. Columbia
February 06, 2016 | Men's Swimming and Diving
COMPLETE RESULTS
The Princeton men's swimming and diving Class of 2016 has had some dominant nights in DeNunzio Pool over the past four years. They weren't about to conclude their home careers with anything less.
Princeton won 16 of 17 events on Senior Night to post a 180-112 victory over Columbia and clinch the regular season dual meet title. The Tigers finished the season with a perfect 7-0 mark in the league, though they know the ultimate test will come three weeks from now in Providence at the 2016 Ivy League Championships.
Princeton can begin work towards that soon enough, but they paid tribute to a terrific senior class while finishing the perfect regular season Friday night. Senior Jack Pohlmann was part of the first winning effort, as he joined Alexander Lewis, Ben Schafer and En-Wei Hu-Van Wright to win the 200 medley relay in 1:30.70.
Freshman Murphy McQuet followed his HYP win by taking the mile in 9:24.07, while Liam Karas headed a 1-2-3 Princeton finish in the 200 free with a time of 1:39.96. Sophomore Corey Okubo won the 100 back in 50.03, while senior Marco Bove won the 100 breast in 56.58.
Following freshman Matt Harrington's win in the 200 fly (1:48.23), senior Sandy Bole took the 50 free in 20.63. Harrington came back to win the 100 free in 45.78, while Hu-Van Wright took the 200 back in 1:49.87. Freshman Tyler Lin added a victory in the 200 breast (2:04.95), while classmate McQuet capped his double by winning the 500 in 4:35.43.
Bole doubled in the 100 fly (50.60), and classmate Bove matched that in the 200 IM (1:51.42). Senior Teo D'Alessandro picked up his first win of the night in the 100 IM (51.91), while Hu-Van Wright, Julian Mackrel, Alexander Lewis and Bole won the 200 free in 1:21.94.
Nathan Makarewicz added a diving victory, as he took the 1-meter event with 318.38 points.
