No. 15 Women's Water Polo Continues California Trip at Loyola Marymount

PRINCETON, N.J - The No. 15 Princeton Tigers take part in the Loyola Marymount Invitational this weekend beginning with Azusa Pacific (12 p.m.) and Whittier (3:45 p.m.) on Friday and the host, No. 14 Loyola Marymount on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
Princeton won the only matchup in program history vs. Azusa Pacific in 2012. The Tigers are also 2-0 against Whittier including a 13-6 victory last season. Loyola Marymount is 10-3 all-time against Princeton.
The Tigers have won seven of its last eight games including going 2-1 at last week's San Diego State Invitational. Princeton defeated the host, No. 20 San Diego State, 8-5 before falling to No. 11 UC-San Diego, 9-8. The team finished the invitational with a 13-3 decision to Chapman.
With stellar performances, sophomore Emily Smith was selected as the Collegiate Water Polo Association's National Player of the Week. Smith scored the game-tying goal in the team's win over No. 20 San Diego State and a team-high three tallies vs. No. 11 UC-San Diego. She also added a goal in the team's win over Chapman. It's her third career Player of the Week award.
Sophomore Haley Wan leads the team in goals (26), assists (20) and steals (18). Princeton has nine players with at least 10 goals. Freshmen Lindsey Kelleher has made an impact on both the offensive (21 goals, 16 assists) and defensive end (14 steals, 12 ejection drawns). Sophomore goalie Helena van Brande has made 99 saves this season including eight vs. No. 20 San Diego State.
