Michelle Miller Named to CoSIDA Academic All-American Team
March 21, 2016 | Women's Basketball
PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Michelle Miller was selected the CoSIDA Academic All-American first team. It's her second straight season as an Academic All-American as she was a third-team selection last season.
Miller is the third Tiger in program history to be named to a CoSIDA Academic All-American as she joined Sandi Bittler (1989-90) and Lauren Edwards (2011) last year. Just 15 women's Division I basketball players nationwide earned a spot on the All-America first, second or third team and Miller was the lone Ivy League represenetative.
In order to be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing. Last month, Miller was named a first-team Academic All-District selection, automatically putting her in consideration for the All-America squads.
Miller recently finished her stellar senior season as the team's leading scorer (13.7 points per game). She finished eighth in the Ivy League in scoring and became a 1,000-point scorer earlier in the year. Miller led the Ivy League in three-point shooting percentage (42.6), was fifth in field goal percentage (47.2), and was in the top 20 in assists (69), assist/turnover ratio (1.4) and rebounds per game (5.1). She finished her career with 1,314 points, eighth most in program history.
The chemistry major is a spectacular student away from the court as well. Miller won the Princeton Shapiro for Academic Excellence award and was selected to CoSIDA Academic All-American third team last year. She was also a finalist for the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship.
