No. 20 Women's Water Polo Wins Fifth Straight, Beats Iona, 13-3

BOSTON – The No. 20 Princeton women's water polo team finished the Harvard Invitational with a 13-3 victory over Iona Gaels at the Blodgett Pool on Sunday morning. The Tigers went 3-0 over the weekend and have won five straight games.
Freshman Lindsey Kelleher continued her spectacular weekend with three goals and two assists. The freshman had nine points in the Tigers' two games yesterday. Three other players for Princeton scored two goals each in sophomore Sydney Cheong, junior Morgan Hallock and sophomore Emily Smith. Smith and sophomore Haley Wan also had three steals each. Sophomore Helena van Brande had a season-high 14 saves in the win.
Princeton's defense was outstanding in the first half as the Tigers held the Gaels scoreless. Head coach Luis Nicaolo's team scored four times in the first period and three more in the second frame. The Tigers added five more tallies out of halftime and led 12-1 after three quarters en route to their ninth victory of the season.
The Tigers will travel to the West Coast next week as they take part in the San Diego State Invitational (Mar. 12-13). Princeton will battle San Diego State (7 p.m.) on Saturday along with UC-San Diego (1:15 p.m.) and Chapman (6:15 p.m.) on Sunday.
