Morgan Sets Princeton Record in Heptathlon at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas (3/31/16) - Senior Taylor Morgan set a Princeton record today in the heptathlon with 5,224 points at the Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
It was a PR for Morgan who previously had 5,181 points from last year's Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, which sat her second all-time at Princeton. Now the No. 2 spot belongs to Susan Coltman '04, as Morgan took down her 14-year record of 5,196 points set at the 2002 Heps. She ranks eighth all-time in the Ivy League
The two-time Ivy League indoor pentathlon champion finished 15th overall and moving up three places from yesterday. She grabbed 700 points in the first event on Day 2, the long jump, as she jumped to 5.50 (18-0.50). In the javelin she recorded a throw of 35.02 (114-11) for 572 points and concluded the seven-event challenge clocking a 2:20.80 in the 800 for 786 points.
Teammate Kerry Krause placed 24th with 4,762 points. She earned the most points on the day in the final event the 800 with a time of 2:22.02 to collect 796 points. She began the day with a jump of 5.31 (17-5.25) for 645 in the long jump and added 456 more in the javelin with a toss of 28.90 (94-10).
The Tigers will be back in action on Friday with freshman Brighie Leach and senior Emily de La Bruyere taking on the 1500 and 5k at the Stanford Invitational.
