Tigers Continues CWPA Action at DeNunzio Pool; Will Honor Lone Senior Sat.

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 15 Princeton women's water polo team will host its final matches of the season at DeNunzio Pool this weekend as Collegiate Water Polo Association's (CWPA) conference play continues.
The Tigers will take on Brown (2 p.m.) and George Washington (7:20 p.m.) on Saturday while battling No. 21 Hartwick (10:20 a.m.) and Bucknell (5 p.m.) on Sunday. Before the match against George Washington, Princeton will honor its lone senior, Pippa Temple. Temple has 14 goals, 12 assists and drawn 18 ejections this season. For her career, the senior has assembled 119 goals, 70 assists and has caused 70 ejections.
Princeton has won 26 of its 31 meetings against in Brown in program history. The Tigers defeated the Bears twice last season. The Tigers have not lost in 44 matchups against George Washington. Princeton and Hartwick are almost even in the win column against each other with the Tigers win in last season's CWPA semifinals giving them a slight edge, 12-11. Bucknell trails the all-time series vs. Princeton, 39-7.
Princeton went 1-2 in its three games at the University of Michigan's Canham Natatorium last weekend. The Tigers dropped a close 9-7 decision to then No. 8 Michigan. Princeton got within one on several occasions against the home team, but couldn't find the equalizer. No. 15 Indiana dropped Princeton, 8-7 as the head coach Luis Nicolao's team couldn't covert a power play in the final 19 seconds of play. The Tigers finished the weekend by scoring its second victory of the season over No. 13 Harvard, 9-7.
Sophomore Haley Wan's outstanding season continues as she leads the team in goals (38), assists (27), steals (27) and sprint wins (14). Five other Tigers have at least 25 goals including two others with at least 30. Freshman Lindsey Kelleher boasts 32 tallies and 24 assists along with 18 snags and 15 drawn ejections.
Princeton's 14-5 record overall is helped by a stellar defense that has 10 players with over 10 steals and five more with over 10 drawn ejections. Junior Morgan Hallock maintains a team-best 39 drawn ejections along with 30 goals, 14 steals and 7 assists. Sophomore goalie Helena van Brande is 13-5 on the season with 132 saves, a .516 save percentage and 34 swipes.
