Women's Golf Headed to Brown for Match Play Event
April 14, 2016 | Women's Golf
In what will be the team's final event before heading back to New England for the Ivy League Championships next week, the Princeton women's golf team will head to Rhode Island for the Brown Bear Match Play tournament, featuring Dartmouth and Penn along with Brown and the Tigers.
Tee times will start at 11 a.m. for Saturday's first-round matches at the 6,021-yard, par-71 Carnegie Abbey Club in Portsmouth, R.I. Princeton will face Brown, with each team placing eight players head-to-head. Sunday's pairings, featuring winner versus winner from Saturday along with a consolation match for the other two teams, will have a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
Hana Ku, Alex Wong, Amber Wang, Tenley Shield, Tiana Lau, Jordan Lippetz, Amanda Brown and Sydney Kersten will tee it up for the Tigers.
Princeton is coming off a win in its last event, the Georgetown Hoya Invitational, held April 4-5 in Maryland. The Tigers, who placed three players in the top seven and saw Ku and Wong tie for second overall, finished 13 shots ahead of Georgetown to take the win. It was Princeton's fourth first-place or second-place finish of the 2015-16 campaign.
The Ivy Championship will start next Friday at Stanwich Golf Club in Greenwich, Conn. Princeton finished fourth a year ago in a crowded top half of the leaderboard that saw first and fourth place separated by just 13 shots.
