PRINCETON, N.J. – Former Princeton baseball player Matt Bowman made his Major League debut last night for the St. Louis Cardinals.
This weekly blog will keep tabs on any former Princeton players in the big leagues and in the minor league system.
Bowman (Cardinals) joins Chris Young '02 (Kansas City Royals) and Ross Ohlendorf '05 (Cincinnati Reds) as former players of Princeton to be in Major League Baseball to start the 2016 season.
Bowman entered the game vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates last night in the seventh inning and struck out the first batter he faced, Francisco Cervelli. Bowman finished with two strikeouts in two scoreless innings.

Chris Young – Kansas City Royals – Young made his season debut yesterday on the mound for the Royals against the New York Mets. The starter went five innings, allowing just three hits, striking out four. Young picked up a tough luck loss as the Royals fell 2-0 to the Mets.

Ross Ohlendorf – Cincinnati Reds – After being released by the Kansas City Royals, the reliever signed a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Reds on Mar. 26. Ohlendorf scored a victory on Opening Day (Mon.) vs. the Philadelphia Phillies. It was his 26th career victory.

Will Venable – Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs – Venable will start the 2016 season with the Phillies' AAA affiliate. The Iron Pigs' season will begin tomorrow vs. the Syracuse Chiefs. Venable, along with Ohlendorf reached the MLB playoffs last season with the Texas Rangers.

Tyler Servais – Servais is the most recent Princeton Tiger to be drafted as he was selected in the 27th round of the 2015 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers. He played in 15 games at the professional level last season for the Gulf Coast and Connecticut Tigers.

Mike Fagan – A ninth round pick of the Oakland A's in 2014, Fagan spent most of his time last season with the Beloit Snappers, striking out 43 batters.

Alec Keller – Potomac Nationals - Keller was a 17th round pick of the Washington Nationals in 2014 and will start the 2016 season with the team's high A affiliate, the Potomac Nationals. Last year, Keller secured a slash line of .294/.341/.374 for the Hagerstown Suns and Potomac Nationals.

Danny Barnes – New Hampshire Fisher Cats - Selected in the 35th round of the 2010 MLB draft by the Toronto Blue Jays, Barnes will start the 2016 campaign with the Fisher Cats. The right-handed pitcher posted a 2.97 ERA in 40 contests for the Fisher Cats last season, nabbing four saves.

David Hale – Albuquerque Isotopes – A third round pick in the 2009 draft of the Atlanta Braves, Hale has over a year of service time in the majors including five wins last season with the Colorado Rockies. For 2016, Hale will be playing for the Rockies' AAA team, the Albuquerque Isotopes.
