Men's Field Corps Wins Three Events on Day 1 of Sam Howell

Day 1 Results
PRINCETON, N.J. (4/8/16) - One of the final Princeton teams to make their home debut, the track & field teams took to Weaver Stadium for the first time this 2016 outdoor season for the annual Sam Howell Invitational.
Freshman Adam Kelly won the hammer throw at 66.37 (217-9) on his final countable throw. He has steadily progressed from 62 meters in his first meet, to 63, 64 and now 66.
Senior Adam Bragg won the pole vault with a new meet record of 5.40 (17-8.50). Bragg cleared the height on his third attempt, after passing up through 5.15 and took his first vault at 5.26. Sophomore August Kiles was the runner up clearing 5.15 (16-10.75) on his first try. He passed on heights 4.10-4.85 before taking their first attempt at 5.00.
In the discus, sophomore Mitchel Charles took first place with a mark of 51.71 (169-8) on his final throw of the day. Junior Jared Bell was the runner-up at 50.92 (167-1) on his fifth throw, though three of his other throws would have placed him second as well. The pair was the only throwers to get over 50m.
Freshman Steven Sum had the best time for the Tigers in the 1500 at 4:01.54 to take fifth in section 3. Sophomore Jared Lee posted the fastest time for the squad in the 800 clocking 1:57.15 to take sixth in section 3.
Senior Sam Berger was 12th overall in the 5k with a time of 14:38.06.
Senior Brett Kelly had the top time in the final event of the night, the 10k. He ran 30:44.07 to take eighth. Junior Jack Leahey was 11th at 30:50.55. Both were PRs.A couple of Princeton alums came back to compete as well. Michael Palmisano '13 ran 3:59.84 in the 1500, while Cameron Marantz'09 and Trevor Van Ackeren '12 ran 14:10.65 and 14:45.56 in the 5k.
Day 2 begins on Saturday at 11 a.m., with the shot put and track events start at noon with the 4x100.
