Akosa & de La Bruyere Named Capital One Academic All-District

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/26/16) - Senior Emily de La Bruyere and sophomore Carrington Akosa have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Track & Field Team it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday, May 26.
This is de La Bruyere's second time earned all-district honors. A two-year captain, de La Bruyere is a three-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association All-Academic and three-time Academic All-Ivy selection. The 2016 recipient of the Michel David-Weill Scholarship, de La Bruyere was also a Rhodes Scholar finalist. She was named the fall Princeton Student-Athlete Achiever Award after guiding her cross country team to the Ivy League championship and finishing third overall. A three-time all-region cross country runner, she has also competed at the NCAA cross country championships, though was not able to compete in 2015 because of her Rhodes interview. A three-time NCAA Regional qualifier, she will double this weekend in both the steeplechase and the 5,000. de La Bruyere was an eight-time Ivy League scorer for the Tigers in track & field. She holds Princeton top-5 times in the outdoor 5k steeplechase, 4x1500 and the indoor distance medley relay.
This is first year Akosa is eligible for the award. The 2016 Ivy League Indoor Heps Most Outstanding Track Performer, Akosa won the 100 and was the runner-up in the 200 as well as being named Academic All-Ivy League. This outdoor season he anchored the 4x100 relay to its first Ivy League title since 2000, was the runner-up in the 100 and was third in the 200. Addiitionally, he has had three other second-place finishes at Heps and three more events in which he has scored. Akosa has Princeton top-5 times in the indoor 60 (6.80), 200 (21.56), outdoor 100 (10.49), 200 (21.09) and 4x100 (40.41).
The pair move on to the national ballot with the Academic All-America being announced in mid-June.
