Several members of the Princeton track & field programs will be competing at the 2016 US Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore. The trials will begin July 1 and conclude on July 10. Eight current and former athletes have already qualified, two assistant coaches have qualified and while five others are provisionally qualifying and their status is pending.
Donn Cabral '12 looks to make the Olympic team for the second time after his appearance in 2012. He currently ranks second in the steeplechase. Ashley Higginson'11 who was an alternate to the Olympic team with a fourth-place finish in 2012 is ranked sixth headed into the trials. Liz Costello '10 has qualified in two events, and if she makes the team in the 10k, will most likely bow out of the 5k. She ranks sixth in the 10k but is just six seconds out back from first.
Princeton women's head coach Peter Farrell will cap his coaching career as Cecilia Barowski's coach. Barowski qualified in the 800 in April and was sixth indoors and fifth outdoors at NCAAs. Greta Feldman '13 hopes to make an appearance on the track as well as she has provisionally qualified in both the 800 and 1500. Imani Oliver '14 is ranked ninth in the triple jump as she looks to qualify in the event. Jasmine Blocker '15 who is coming off of a seventh-place finish in the NCAAs as a member of Tulane will compete in the 400.
Adam Bragg '16 returns to Hayward Field after finishing seventh at the NCAAs in pole vault. This is his first time competing in the trials. He'll be joined in the field events by former Tiger and current assistant coach Justin Frick '10. Frick will take on the high jump for the second consecutive trials.
Other assistant coaches looking to wave the flag are Robby Andrews, the men's assistant distance coach in the 1500 and the women's throws coach Jeff Milliron in the discus.
Three men's athletes will await their fate to see if they are accepted off the provisional list, including rising junior Garrett O'Toole in the 1500, Russell Dinkins '13 in the 800 and Joe Stilin '12 in the 5k.
