Princeton Baseball In The Pros - Mike Ford Gets Promoted To AA - 7/22/16

PRINCETON, N.J. – Former Tiger Mike Ford was promoted to the New York Yankees' AA affiliate the Trenton Thunder this week.
Ford was most recently with the Tampa Yankees (A+) and was on the 60-day disabled list. In his first game for the Thunder last night, Ford went 1-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI. For the season, the former Ivy League Player of the Year has a .314/.393/.549 slash line.

Ross Ohlendorf '05 – Cincinnati Reds (MLB) – The reliever picked up his second career save last Friday vs. the Milwaukee Brewers. With two out and two runners in scoring position, Ohlendorf got Ryan Braun to pop up to end the game.

Matt Bowman – St. Louis Cardinals (MLB) – Bowman has two multi-strikeout performances over the past week. The reliever struck out two hitters vs. Miami on Sunday and then got two more hitters on strikes the next night vs. San Diego.

Will Venable – Oklahoma City Dodgers (AAA) – The outfielder is currently on a four-game hitting streak and is hitting .324 over his last 10 games. Last night vs. the Tacoma Rainiers, Venable hit a two-run home run, his four-bagger for Oklahoma City.

David Hale '11 – Hale made two starts over the past week against the Rochester Red Wings (July 16) and Toledo Mud Hens (July 21). Hale struck out six hitters vs Rochester, a season-high. He's allowed three runs or less in three of his last four outings.

Danny Barnes – Buffalo Bisons (AAA) – The magnificent reliever has allowed just one hit over last four outings which spans five innings and includes nine strikeouts. In nine games for the Bisons, Barnes has given up one run in 13 2/3 innings.

Alec Keller – Potomac Nationals (A+) – Keller is currently sitting on a 10-game hitting streak. During that stretch, the outfielder is hitting .425 with seven multi-hit games. Keller is eighth in the Carolina League in hitting (.301) and RBI (53).

Jack Murphy – Oklahoma City Dodgers (AAA) – Murphy had two hits last night against the Tacoma Rainiers. The catcher has 11 hits over last 31 at-bats (.355) and has improved his batting average to .239.
