Sucharda & Neatby Named to Canadian National Development Team

CALGARY (7/29/16) - Princeton women's hockey players Stephanie Sucharda and Steph Neatby have both been named to Hockey Canada's National Women's Development Team.
They are two of 42 players on the development team that will take in the National Team's Summer Showcase will be held in Calgary at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport's Canada Olympic Park from August 5-21. Along with 43 members of the Under-18 squad, these 85 players will vie for sports on two 23-player squads that will play a pair of three-game series' against the United States from August 17-21.
For the first 11 days of the camp, the team will be split into two reams Red and White and participate in several practices and intrasquad games, as well as off-ice dryland training, fitness testing, and classroom sessions. Sucharda earned her way onto the ECAC All-Rookie team last year. An honorable mention All-Ivy League selection, the freshman defender played in all 33 games and tallied 17 points on 14 assists and three goals. She blocked 47 shots and took 54, finishing with a +7 on-ice rating as the Tigers skated to the Ivy League title and an NCAA tournament berth.

Neatby is one of six goaltenders in the camp. A two-sport athlete who plans to play both hockey and lacrosse at Princeton, Neatby recently returned from the Canadian national lacrosse championships. She played hockey for the Toronto Junior Aeros (PWHL) that won the league and the Provincial championship this past season. She posted a 20-6-4 overall record with 14 total shutouts, a .954 save percentage and 0.80 goals against average.
