Princeton In The Pros: Trio Plays Opening NFL Weekend, Reid Notches First Sack In San Diego

While the 2016 Princeton football team will finally take the field this Saturday, three former Tigers made Opening Weekend in the NFL a memorable one for Princeton this past Sunday.
Mike Catapano '13, Caraun Reid '14, and Seth DeValve '16 each found playing time Sunday with their respective teams, marking the first time three drafted Princeton players were all on active NFL rosters for the same weekend since the 1980s.
Catapano started at outside linebacker for the New York Jets and is expected to be a member of the deep linebacker rotation with his hometown team this season. Reid, who was waived by Detroit and immediately signed by San Diego, didn't waste any time making an impact on the Chargers defensive line. He recorded his first sack in San Diego and tied for the team lead with two quarterback hits in an overtime loss in Kansas City.
DeValve was the one player who made his NFL debut, and he did so in the closest venue to Princeton Stadium. DeValve saw time with the Cleveland Browns in a road loss in Philadelphia.
Catapano will be on the nationally televised Thursday Night Football game (CBS, NFL Network) this week, as the New York Jets head to Buffalo. DeValve and the Browns will host Baltimore Sunday at 1 pm ET (CBS), while Reid and the Chargers will host Jacksonville at 4:25 pm ET (CBS).
