Men's Golf to Play in Windon Memorial This Weekend
September 21, 2016 | Men's Golf
In its second tournament of the fall, the Princeton men's golf team will head to Northwestern's Windon Memorial, held on the par-72, 7,103-yard North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Ill.
Princeton opened its season two weekends ago at Duke's Rod Myers Invitational and will have three more events in October before closing out the fall season. The Windon tournament will be the first one that can include members of Princeton's freshman class, as the rookies remained on campus during the Duke trip to attend Princeton's opening exercises on Sept. 11.
The Tigers have competed in the tournament twice before, most recently last fall, taking fourth place. This time, the Tigers and host Wildcats will join DePaul, Eastern Michigan, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Marquette, Michigan, Northern Illinois, Purdue, Rutgers, UC Davis and Wisconsin. Florida, ranked No. 6 in the nation in August's GCAA poll and No. 10 earlier this month by Golfweek, is the top-ranked team in a field that includes six squads in Golfweek's top 100.
Princeton is scheduled to tee off on the 10th hole for Sunday's first round beginning at 7:45 a.m. CT/8:45 a.m. ET with the second round to follow. Monday's final-round tee times will be determined by the team standings, with teams starting their rounds between 8 and 9 a.m. CT.
