Monday Notes/Highlights: Reid Scores Again; Roth, Volker Honored
September 26, 2016 | Football
A quick look at some Monday notes following Princeton's 42-28 loss at Lehigh:
• You can watch the Monday Rewind highlights video here.
• Third downs have been both a positive and a negative for Princeton this season. Offensively, the Tigers are converting on 51.7 attempts this season, and they have been extremely balanced in doing so (24 rushes, 23 passes, two by penalty); defensively, the Tigers are allowing a 48.3 conversion rate, including a 7-for-14 performance by Lehigh Saturday.
• Both Charlie Volker and Tyler Roth were named to the Ivy League Honor Roll this week. Volker scored a career-best three rushing touchdowns against Lehigh, while Roth averaged 46.2 yards per punt and pinned Lehigh inside the 5 twice.
• Princeton spread the ball around to 10 different receivers in the passing game last week, including three to James Frusciante and two to Jesper Horsted. Both dealt with preseason injuries and missed the opening game against Lafayette.
• Six different Tigers recorded at least one tackle for loss agiants Lehigh, including Birk Olson, who has had one in each of the first two games.
• In case you missed it, 2013 Ivy champion co-captain Caraun Reid did it again on Sunday; he scored the second touchdown of his NFL career on a 61-yard scoop and score in San Diego's narrow loss at Indianapolis.
