Yale's MacDonald Cup Up Next for Tigers
September 27, 2016 | Men's Golf
For the third consecutive year, the Princeton men's golf team will compete in the MacDonald Cup at Yale, lining up against four other Ivies in the team's third of five tournaments of the fall.
Boston College, Connecticut, Dartmouth, East Tennessee State, Fairfield, Hartford, Harvard, Penn, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, St. Edwards, Stirling (Scotland) and Toledo will join the Tigers and the Bulldogs in the 15-team field.
Michael Davis led Princeton at the event a year ago, tying for 30th overall, while junior classmate Eric Mitchell is two years removed from winning medalist honors as the Tigers finished fourth as a team in 2014.
Two rounds are on the docket for Saturday with the first tee times off the first and 10th holes at 7:30 a.m. Sunday will feature a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m.
So far on the fall, Princeton has played in events hosted by Duke and Northwestern, finishing 10th at Duke with Mitchell leading the team and tying for 18th, and sixth last weekend at Northwestern's event outside Chicago with junior Marc Hedrick leading the team and tying for 12th. After Yale, Princeton will compete in Georgetown's event Oct. 17-18 before wrapping the fall in Hawaii Oct. 30-Nov. 1.
