Men's Swimming & Diving Program Opens Three-Day Program Initiative Towards Building Positive Culture
January 26, 2017 | Men's Swimming and Diving
Jim Gahen, a Certified Professional Behavioral Analyst and Values Analyst who founded the International Coaching Society, will lead a three-day program with the Princeton men's swimming and diving team next week. Its intention will be to assist Princeton in rebuilding a strong, positive culture within its program.
"We are looking forward to having Jim Gahen come in to help our program continue to build a new era of Princeton men's swimming and diving," Princeton head coach Rob Orr said. "Our team recognizes the need to be both open and honest about the changes that must be made to meet the standards of both Princeton University and this Department of Athletics. The team is ready to establish this new culture, and we believe this opportunity will help us reach that goal.
"Jim has worked with many organizations and sports teams, including Division I swim teams, by assisting the coaches and athletes on getting on the right track culturally," Orr added. "He is an expert in this field, and we are ready for the challenges of change with his guidance."
Gahen, who has run the International Coaching Society since 1994, has developed and presented the Power Of Coaching Workshop to hundreds of people, and he has professionally coached over 1,000 clients in a variety of ways, including life balance, job transitions, and employee and executive skill sets. He has developed program criteria for successful coaching certification programs and directed focus for outcomes and standards. He has also created an accelerated course on applying coaching skills for consultants who wanted to use coaching in their existing business relationships.
Gahen has taught classes in "Work Style Communication — Become A Better Leader" and "How To Become A Personal/Professional Coach," and he has worked with several collegiate teams, including an extended relationship with programs like California and Wisconsin. He has also run a presentation entitled "The X Factor" to the American Swim Coaches Association, which taught communication skills to bridge the gap between coaches and swimmers and among teammates.
