Charlie Volker Earns Suburban Transit Athlete of the Week Honor
October 16, 2017 | Football
Charlie Volker, who was in the middle of something special before his day became historic, has earned the GoPrincetonTigers.com/Suburban Transit Athlete of the Week honor.
Volker rushed 16 times for 163 yards and four touchdowns in Princeton's 53-0 road win at Brown. Those numbers alone are pretty special, but it was one run in particular that will make this day an unforgettable one for the junior tailback from Fair Haven, N.J.
No, it wasn't the 1-yard run that opened Princeton's second scoring drive. But you probably guessed that.
Volker currently ranks third in the Ivy League with 94.8 rushing yards per game, and he will meet one of the two players ranked ahead of him Friday night (7:30) when Princeton takes on Harvard in Boston on the NBC Sports Network; Crimson junior Charlie Booker is averaging 94.8 rushing yards per game.

Volker's 96-yard rush set a Princeton record, and it was the third-longest in Ivy League history. Ironically, the only two longer runs in league history came from the same player (Dartmouth's David Clark) during the same season (1998), and one came against Princeton.Charlie Volker sets a Princeton record with a 96-yard TD rush!
