Kaiser Advances in Singles, Doubles with Wasserman at ITA Regional
October 20, 2017 | Men's Tennis
In a day of several third sets in singles and close matches in doubles Kial Kaiser advanced to the third round with a singles win and teamed with Jimmy Wasserman to move on in doubles at the ITA Northeast Regional at Yale Friday.
Kaiser beat Yale's Stefan Doehler 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 to set up a third-round match with 109th-ranked David Volfson of Cornell when Saturday's singles play begins at 10 a.m. A second round of singles will follow Saturday at 2 p.m.
In doubles, Kaiser and Wasserman advanced to the third round with an 8-7 win over Quinnipiac's Kyle Alper and Axel Stern. They'll take on Harvard's Jean Thirouin and Andy Zhao at 9 a.m. Saturday.
"Overall it was a bit of a disappointing day, though we know we're a bit shorthanded right now with some guys out or not 100 percent," Princeton coach Billy Pate said. "However, it was promising to see Kial battle through in singles and doubles."
