Princeton No. 2 In Ivy Preseason Poll

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers have been predicted to finish second in the Ivy League Women's Basketball Preseason Poll, the conference announced today.

Penn., the two-time defending champion, was selected first with 12-of-17 first-place votes and 129 points. The Tigers' 120 voting points had the other five first-place tallies. Princeton has been predicted to finish either first or second in the poll each of the past eight seasons.

Harvard, who was taken down by Princeton in the Ivy League Semifinal last season, was third, followed by Brown, Yale, Cornell, Columbia and Dartmouth.

Princeton returns three starters from a squad that reached the WNIT last season. Bella Alarie was honored as the Ivy League Rookie of the Year.

Alarie led the Tigers in scoring (12.6), rebounding (8.0), three-point field goal percentage (.379) and blocks (1.7). She was fourth in the conference in blocks and defensive rebounds (177), fifth in rebounds, sixth in three-point field goal percentage, seventh in points (377), eighth in offensive rebounds (64), ninth in field goals (139) and field goal percentage (.432) and 10th in points per game.

The All-Ivy first team player is in the top five all-time for freshman single-season records in blocks (first) games played (tied for first), three-point attempts (109, second), three-pointers made (39, third), rebounds (241, third), points (fourth), field goals (fifth) and field goal attempts (322).

Leslie Robinson picked up a second-team All-Ivy accolade as she broke out with 10.4 points. 7.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in 2016-17. She finished second in the Ivy League in field goal percentage (48.1), third in offensive rebounds (77), sixth in total rebounds (221), seventh in assists (82), eighth in defensive rebounds (144) and 10th in field goals (130).

The Tigers are looking for its ninth straight postseason trip in 2017-18. Princeton gets the season underway on Nov. 10 (7 p.m.) vs. George Washington at Jadwin Gym.
