Yale Spoils Princeton's Season Finale in OT

Aldo Quevedo played spoiler scoring in the 95th minute to lift Yale to a 1-0 win over Princeton in the regular-season home finale on Saturday, Nov. 11 on Myslik Field.
Princeton tried to clear the ball out of danger but a header by Josh Totte kept his team moving ahead. Quevado settled the ball and flicked it back to Miguel Yuste in open space about 35 yards out. Yuste chipped a ball over the play to Quevado and he lined up to knock the ball into the lower right corner past a sprawling Jacob Schachner in goal.
The goal ended Princeton's six game unbeaten streak though the Tigers finish the year tied for third place in the Ivy League.
Senior James Reiner had the first opportunity of the game, coming in the 20th minute, but his shot bounced off the cross bar. He nearly had another chance in the eighth minute on a great cross by Harry Heffernan who was looking for Reiner in the box before the Bulldog defense cleared the ball out.
Yale's first scoring opportunity was from Quevado that skittered just wide of the left post in the 39th minute. The Bulldogs had some more chances in the second with Miguel Yuste testing Schachner for the first time in the 48th minute before Quevado followed up five minutes later with a header that went too high.
Both Schachner and Andrew Bortey made two saves in regulation time, while the Princeton defense did a good job of denying many good looks as 11 Yale shots were blocked or sent wide.
Yale nearly scored 20 seconds into overtime after taking the ball off the restart. Schachner made an incredible toe save on a John Lesiman shot to keep the clock moving. Sophomore defender Bobby Hickson was able to block a Kyle Kenagy shot about a minute later at the left post.
Princeton finishes its season 6-7-4 overall and 2-3-2 in the Ivy League.
