Princeton Suffers 3-0 Setback to Brown

Brown's netminder Gavin Nieto made a career-high 47 saves as he led his team to a 3-0 win over Princeton on Saturday night at Hobey Baker Rink.
The first period was a back-and-forth affair of special teams, with a Brown goal getting waved off due to goaltender interference. Tommy Marchin's goal at 1:52 of the second stood however as Chris Berger stopped a puck as Princeton tried to outlet along the half wall. He pushed it over to Marchin who skated in towards the goal and sent it into the back of the net.
Brent Beaudoin padded the Bears lead with a quick goal right off a face off down low. Sam Lafferty took the draw in the right circle, won it back to Beaudoin and he sent a one-timer in to make it 2-0 at 12:18 of the third.
The Tigers were caught trying to transition when Nolan Aibel picked off the puck at the Princeton blue line and shoveled it ahead to Marchin who toe dragged to the right and scored his second of the night.
Freshman Ryan Ferland made a number of quality saves himself, a total of 31. He was pulled with three minutes to play, in favor of the extra attacker, but after a penalty was called on the Tigers with 2:12 left he was forced to return.
Princeton (3-3-1, 2-3-1 ECAC) was 0 for 7 on the power play and 4 for 4 on the penalty kill.
Brown, with its first shutout at Princeton since 1956-57, is now 3-5 overall and 2-5 in the the ECAC.
The Tigers return home on Wednesday/Friday, Nov. 22 and 24 for a two-game set with Bemidji.
