SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
Bemidji comes to Princeton with a 4-4-2 overall record and will playing its first games in 11 days. The last time out, the Beavers dropped a pair of games at home to ranked squad Minnesota State. They are currently receiving three votes in the national poll. Their special teams highlight their play as the penalty kill is 33 of 35 to lead the nation at 94.3 percent and they have the fewest penalties of any team in the country. The power play is ranked eighth at 11 for 41 (26.8 percent). The offense is led by a pair of seniors Gerry Fitzgerald and Kyle Bauman. Fitzgerald has 12 points on three goals and nine assists, while Bauman has six goals and four helpers. Junior Jay Dickman has eight points with three of his five goals coming on the power-play. Senior Michael Bitzer has played all but 20 minutes in goal and has two shutouts, a 2.77 GAA and an .867 save percentage.
THE PRINCETON/BEMIDJI SERIES
Princeton's series at Bemidji was the turning point for the Tigers last season as they headed to Minnesota winless in seven. After beating the No. 10 ranked team, not once, but twice, Princeton went on a 7-2 run through the end of the 2016 calendar year. This should be a great series, as Princeton tries to prove it was no fluke last year while Bemidji will be out for revenge. This is the first time the teams are meeting at Hobey Baker Rink, with all four previous meetings in Bemidji.
