Princeton Gets Strong Efforts Throughout The Lineup, Opens Season With Win Over Nova Southeastern

Princeton swept the relays and got double wins from three swimmers in three different classes during an impressive opening performance to the 2017-18 season. The Tigers closed their 2017 fall training week in Florida with a 150-117 victory over Nova Southeastern in Coral Gables, Fla.
The Tiger men opened the afternoon with a winning effort in the 200 medley relay. The team of Corey Okubo, Corey Lau, Ben Schafer, and Christian Feiler took the first event in 1:31.21, and Murphy McQuet followed up by winning the 200 free in 1:40.91.
Freshman Corey Lau earned the first individual victory of the Tiger season, as he won the 100 breast in 55.84. He didn't waste much time becoming the first freshman double winner for Princeton by claiming the 200 breast in 2:04.62.
Princeton also got doubles from junior Cole Buese and senior tri-captain Ben Schafer. Buese opened his day by winning the 200 fly in 1:49.61 and closed it with a victory in the 200 back (1:49.25). Schafer won the 50 free in 20.91, and also took the 100 fly in 49.23.
Freshman Joshua Brown earned his first collegiate victory in the 100 free (45.65), and senior Liam Karas added a 200 IM win in 1:54.64.
Sophomore Charlie Minns added a 1-meter win on the boards with an impressive score of 308.92.
Princeton closed the day with a win from Schafer, McQuet, Brown, and Feiler in the 400 free relay (3:04.25). The Tigers will return to action next weekend at the two-day Virginia Invitational.
