November 06, 2017 | Men's Soccer
Princeton's Gaby Paniagua was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week while sophomore defender Bobby Hickson was named the Suburban Transit/GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week as the Tigers went 2-0 this past week.
Hickson had a hand in all three Princeton goals this week, netting both game-winning goals, including one in overtime to defeat Penn on the road on Saturday. On Tuesday, Hickson scored his first career goal in a 1-0 win over Drexel. Saturday he assisted on the team's first goal to make it a 1-1 game with the Quakers before delivering the winning goal in the 94th minute. Hickson finished with a five-point week - his first points of his collegiate career.
Paniagua scored the equalizer and eventually helped Princeton defeat Penn, 2-1, in overtime. Trailing 1-0, Paniagua knotted the game in the 23rd minute off a deep throw in the attacking zone. Hickson sent the ball into the box where it was knocked around before Paniagua collected the ball and sent it past Penn's Scott Forbes.
