Princeton Offense Erupts in 9-2 Win Over Dartmouth
December 01, 2017 | Men's Ice Hockey
Nine goals. It was also as if Princeton had been saving them over the last eight games in the series with Dartmouth. The Tigers offense exploded to end an eight-game unbeaten streak against the Big Green in a 9-2 thumping on Friday night at Hobey Baker Rink.
It is the most goals scored by Princeton in a game since Dec. 9, 1994 when the Tigers topped Rensselaer 9-1.
Junior Max Véronneau collected his first career hat trick and 11 other skaters had at least one point, including sophomore Jackson Cressey who nabbed had a four-point game - his second career four-point game - with one goal and three helpers. Junior defenseman Josh Teves had a three-assist night, senior David Hallisey had two goals and one assist. Max Becker, Ryan Kuffner and Alex Riche each had two points apiece.
Freshman Ryan Ferland made 31 saves in the win and was rested after 50 minutes. Senior Ben Halford played the remaining 10 minutes and stopped the two shots he faced.
After a disappointing result on Tuesday the Tigers were primed from the get-go, scoring 32 seconds into the game with a six-goal first period.
Princeton, now 5-5-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the ECAC, was 1 for 3 on the power play, while Dartmouth was 0 for 3.
The Tigers host Harvard tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
