Louisiana-Monroe (11-5) is first Friday at 12:30 p.m. ET, followed by host Houston (7-11) Friday at 5:30, Wisconsin (12-2) Saturday at 10 a.m., Sam Houston State (7-8) at 12:30 p.m., and Wisconsin Sunday at 10 a.m. Houston is coming off a 1-0 road win Wednesday over No. 5 Texas A&M.
Of the 10 Tigers who had at least 20 hits last season, eight return, led by sophomore first baseman and 2016 first-team All-Ivy honoree Kaylee Grant and her 44 hits from last season. Junior outfielder Kylee Pierce, a second-team All-Ivy Leaguer last year, and sophomore designated player Kaylee Walsh, an honorable mention All-Ivy Leaguer last year, are back as well, as is the reigning Ivy League Coach of the Year, Lisa Van Ackeren.Â
Princeton graduated 2016 innings leader Shanna Christian from the circle, but the Tigers return their other four arms from a year ago, led by junior Ashley LaGuardia, who went 9-8 with a 3.77 ERA in 85 innings, and senior Claire Klausner, who was 7-5 with a 4.25 ERA in 89 innings.Â
The Tigers add five freshmen to the roster across the field, among them pitcher Caroline Taber, catcher and utility player Alex Colón, infielder Allison Harvey, outfielder Megan Donahey and utility player Joey Smith.
The Houston trip includes the first five of 18 games the Tigers are scheduled to play before opening the Ivy League schedule March 31 vs. Brown at the Class of 1895 Field. Princeton will play in Towson's tournament next weekend before heading to California over spring break.
