DeGarmo and Hompe Named to Tewaaraton Watch List

NEW YORK (2/28/17) - Seniors Ellie DeGarmo and Olivia Hompe of the Princeton women's lacrosse team have been named to the 2017 Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List, it was announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Tuesday evening.
The lists include the top 50 players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlight the early contenders for the Tewaaraton, presented by Under Armour.
The 2016 Division I Goalkeeper of the Year, DeGarmo was also a first-team All-America last year and a Tewaaraton Top-25 nominee. The Ivy League Defender of the Year and a first-team All-Ivy League, DeGarmo led the nation in save percentage nearly all season long and finished with a 53.6 percent save percentage on 171 saves with an 11-6 record, 32 ground balls and five caused turnovers. While only two games into the 2017, DeGarmo has already earned Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week honors. She is second in the nation in save percentage with a 65.8 and ranks fourth nationally in saves per game with 12.50 and goals against average, allowing 6.50 gpg.
Hompe makes the Tewaaraton Watch List for the second consecutive year and was a top-25 nominee last year. A third-team All-America, Hompe was a unanimous first-team all-league selection and first-team all-region selection. Already this season, Hompe has 12 points, ranking eighth in the country in points per game, averaging 6.00 and is second nationally in goals per game at 5.00. She has been held without a point just once time in her 58 game career and is riding a 38-game goal scoring streak. Currently, Hompe is ninth on the all-time scoring list at Princeton with 187 points with 133 goals and 54 assists, averaging more than three points per game.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
On April 27, the field will be narrowed to 25 women's nominees. Five finalists will be announced on May 11.
The 17th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held in Washington, D.C., on June 1.
