Hammarskjold Nabs Two Academic Awards

PRINCETON, N.J. – Ryan Hammarskjold was named to Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-Academic Team and the Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Scholar Athlete team. It's the second straight year that Hammarskjold has picked up both awards.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete's head coach must be a member of the ACWPC, while the athlete must attain a grade point average (GPA) in excess of 3.20. The players were divided into three groups, Excellent (3.2-3.4), Superior (3.41-3.7) and Outstanding (3.71-4.0). A total of 357 athletes were named to the team with the ACWPC awarding 86 Outstanding, 135 Superior and 136 Excellent accolades.
The NWPC Scholar-Athlete team had 64 members on it. Divided into three teams based on cumulative grade point average, league members garnered 19 Outstanding (4.00-3.71), 23 Superior (3.70-3.41) and 22 Excellent (3.40-3.20) honors.
Hammarskjold appeared in 11 games for the Tigers this season, scoring three times and adding three helpers. Princeton went 18-9 this season and placed third at the Northeast Water Polo Conference Tournament semifinals.
