Eye on the Tigers
Princeton is 7-1 overall after taking down No. 10 Syracuse 16-11 here on Sherrerd Field on Wednesday night. The Tigers are ranked No. 7 in the latest IWLCA poll. Senior Olivia Hompe leads the offense with 31 goals and 11 assists for 42 points. With 217 career points, Hompe sits fifth all-time in scoring at Princeton. Just five more points will take her to second, a spot held by former teammate Erin McMunn who finished her career in 2015 with 222 points. Freshman Tess D'Orsi is proving she is worthy of making this list some day as well, has 29 points on 23 goals and six assists. Junior Colby Chanenchuk adds a team-high 15 assists and seven goals, while classmate Ellie McNulty had 10 goals and six assists. McNulty is the team leader in draws with 14, while sophomore Elizabeth George has 12. Defenders Amanda Leavell and Alex Argo have caused the most turnovers with 10 and nine, respectively. Senior Ellie DeGarmo has made back-to-back career highs in saves. She stopped 17 in a win at Dartmouth on Saturday before putting up 18 against the Orange. She has a .582 save percentage and a 9.25 goals against average.
The Series
Princeton owns a 19-7 advantage in the all-time series with Delaware, as the series dates back to the 1975 season. The Blue Hens won six of their seven games in the first seven meetings before Princeton went on a 17-game run through 2006. Delaware ended the streak with a 12-10 game in 2015 here in Princeton before the Tigers answered back with a 7-6 victory in Newark last year.
Scouting the Blue Hens
Delaware is 5-4 as it enters today's game, most recently dropping a close 9-7 game to No. 4 Colorado at home on Wednesday night. Junior Becky Gohsler is the team's top offensive weapon, as she has 20 goals and five assists and has the most caused turnovers on the team as well with 14. Senior Jamie Schwartz is four points back with 11 goals and 10 assists. Freshmen Christine Long and Sydney Rausa add 17 points apiece. Senior Coley Ricci is a threat at the draw, winning 28 this season. In goal, junior Taylor Carpentier has an 8.16 GAA and a .398 save percentage.
