Princeton Baseball In The Pros: Bowman and Barnes Off To Great Starts
April 24, 2017 | Baseball
PRINCETON, N.J. – The number of Princeton alumni in the Major Leagues jumped over the last week as Danny Barnes was called up to the Toronto Blue Jays on Apr. 18.
Matt Bowman '14 - St. Louis Cardinals (MLB) - Bowman has appeared in 11 games this season and has not allowed an earned run in 9 2/3 innings of work. During that stretch, he's struck out eight hitters and has seen time in more high-leverage situations. He is currently tied for second in the majors in holds (six). A hold is granted to a relief pitcher who enters a game with his team in the lead in a save situation and hands over that lead to another reliever without the score having been tied in the interim.

Chris Young '02 - Kansas City Royals (MLB) - Young has seen time in five games out of the Kansas City Royals' bullpen. In 5 2/3 innings, he has struck out four and posted a 4.76 ERA.
