Harvey Earns Ivy League Rookie of the Week Award

Hitting .500 on the week and helping the Princeton softball team to the Ivy South division title has earned freshman Allison Harvey the Ivy League Rookie of the Week award.
On a six-game week that saw Princeton drop a close pair to Patriot League leader Lehigh before taking three of four against Columbia, Harvey went 9 for 18 with a double and a home run to slug .778, and four walks to earn a .591 on-base percentage.
Harvey had five RBI in the series opener against Columbia, hitting a three-run home run and a two-run double while going 3 for 3 with a walk. The five RBI were the most for any Tiger this season. She had another multi-hit game in the series finale, going 2 for 3.Â
The wins helped Princeton ensure a place in the Ivy League Championship Series, which will be at the Class of '95 Field if Princeton can win two games of the four this weekend against Cornell, or if other results around the league break the Tigers' way. Heading into the weekend, Princeton's 13-3 Ivy record is the best with Ivy North leader Dartmouth next at 10-6. The division winner with the best record will host the best-of-three ILCS, which will have two games Saturday, May 6, and one game Sunday, May 7 if Saturday's doubleheader is split.
The Ivy Rookie of the Week honor is Princeton's third of the season and Harvey's first. Classmate Megan Donahey earned the award March 6 and April 10.
