No. 6 Princeton is the 2017 Ivy League Tournament Champion after a 12-9 win over No. 11 Cornell in the title game.

Senior Ellie DeGarmo was named the MVP after making 15 saves today, a single-game record in the Ivy tournament. She had a tournament record of 27, surpassing her own record of 20 set in 2015. Senior Olivia Hompe had her fifth nine-point game of the season, scoring seven times and adding two assists. She became the Princeton all-time leading scorer as she has 278 points and became the all-time goal scorer with 193 career tallies. Hompe's 18-point weekend set tournament records in points, goals (10) and assists (8) and she also had single-season game records in all three categories with nine points, seven goals and six assists. Both were named to the all-tournament team along with defender Amanda Leavell and midfielder Elizabeth George.

Hompe had a hand in each of Princeton's first six goals as Princeton took a 7-1 lead. She assisted on the first two goals and surpassed Crista Samara's points record of 270 on the second assist of the day. She scored the next four Princeton goals, including three straight in a span of five minutes. Freshman Tess D'Orsi net her 36th goal of the season to give the Tigers the 7-1 lead at 4:03.

Catherine Ellis potted the final goal of the first half, as the Big Red took had its largest halftime deficit of the season, 7-2.

Taylor Reed tallied the first goal of the second half, but the Tigers responded scoring three in 3:28. Hompe scored twice and senior Anna Doherty added her second of the game as Princeton took a 10-3 lead at 24:11.

The Big Red weren't going away easily as they went on a four-goal run over the next 10 minutes to make it a three-goal game with 13:12 to play.

Hompe added her 70th goal of the season as she converted her 12th free-position goal of the season.

Tomasina Leska scored two in 16 seconds for Cornell, as it climbed within two, 11-9, with 9:59 to play.

George scored her sixth goal of the weekend to give the Tigers a cushion at 6:47.

With two minutes to play, DeGarmo made a big save on Kristy Gilbert who was held scoreless, and she took a yellow card, giving Princeton a player advantage.

After a good clear – Princeton was a perfect 21 for 21 on clears this tournament – a turnover gave the Big Red the ball. DeGarmo again came up big, this time with a save on Amie Dickson, who was also held scoreless, with 34 seconds left.

Cornell (12-5) out shot Princeton 34-24 and had three more draws 13-10, while each team had 16 ground balls each.

Princeton now 14-3 overall will find out its NCAA fate tonight when the selection show is announced at 9 p.m., on NCAA.com
