Princeton Baseball In The Pros: 2018 Regular Season Review

PRINCETON, N.J. – As the 2018 Major League Baseball (MLB) regular season comes to an end, let's take a one last look at the season for alums among the professional ranks.
While there won't be any Princeton players in the MLB playoffs, the university will still represented as the Cleveland Indians, with general manager Mike Chernoff '03, won the American League Central division. The No. 3 seeded Indians will take on the No. 2 seeded Houston Astros, beginning on Friday.
Danny Barnes – Toronto Blue Jays – MLB – Barnes wrapped up his 2018 season with two scoreless outings for the Blue Jays. In 1 2/3 innings against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sept. 21, Barnes allowed two hits and struck out three. The reliever also got two outs against the Houston Astros on Sept. 25. He ended the season with 47 appearances for the Blue Jays, a 3-3 record and 5.71 ERA.

David Hale '11 - Hanwha Eagles – KBO – Hale made his last start for Hanwha on Friday, pitching six innings against Doosan. He allowed four earned runs and struck out three. In his 10 starts for the Eagles, he has pitched at least five frames in all but one of his starts. He's thrown 56 innings for Hanwha, pitching to a 4.34 ERA and 3-2 record.

Matt Bowman '14 – Memphis Redbirds – AAA – Bowman was put on the seven-day disabled list on August 14th. In 18 games for Memphis, the reliever had 30 strikeouts in 23 innings with a 4.30 ERA. The Redbirds went on to win the Triple A National Championship following a Pacific Coast League title.

Mike Ford '14 - Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders – AAA – Ford was outstanding in the Govenor's Cup series, hitting .294 with three home runs and eight RBI, but the Railriders fell in a decisive game five to the Durham Bulls. In 108 games, Ford produced a .251/.326/.433 slash line with 16 home runs and 54 RBI along with 50 runs scored.

Alec Keller – Harrisburg Senators – AA – Keller finished off his career year with a .337 batting average in 90 games. The outfielder had another unbelievable stretch that saw him record six multi-hit games in his last 10 outings. He went 15-of-37 (.405) during that time with five runs, a home run and four RBI. He completed his 2018 campaign with a .337/.393/.446 slash line over two leagues with three home runs, 35 RBI and 51 runs scored.

Cameron Mingo '16 – Mahoning Valley Scrappers (A) – Mingo completed his season with Mahoning Valley by not allowing an earned run in his last three appearances. The former Tiger saw action in 24 games, making 18 starts, posting a 4-6 record with a 4.52 ERA in 95 2/3 innings.
