Tigers Enjoy Perfect Saturday at ITA Regional
October 13, 2018 | Men's Tennis
It was a perfect Saturday for the Princeton men's tennis team as it hosts the ITA Northeast Regional in Jadwin Gym and at the Lenz Tennis Center, as all six Tigers entering the day in the singles draw are still going, as are both doubles pairs who entered Saturday still playing.
Two rounds of singles - the rounds of 32 and 16 - are set for Sunday at 11 a.m., preceded by the quarterfinal round of doubles at 9:30 a.m. Updated draws and an order of play for Sunday are available here.
If both doubles pairs win their Sunday matches, it'd set up an all-Tiger semifinal Monday. But, to do that, Justin Barki and Bill Duo will have to knock off top-seeded Columbia duo of Jack Lin and William Matheson Sunday. Damian Rodriguez and Ryan Seggerman, who are seeded in the second two, will have to uphold that seed against Penn's Kyle Mautner and Dmitry Shatalin, who are seeded in the second four.
Four of the remaining six Tiger singles players are seeded, with Seggerman and Karl Poling in the second eight, and Rodriguez and Davey Roberts in the second 16. Unseeded Duo and Will Peters advanced past seeded players Saturday, with Duo moving past Columbia's Adam Ambrozy, seeded in the second 16, in a walkover and Peters defeating Harvard's Brian Shi, seeded in the second eight, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
