Ivy Race Heats Up as Princeton Hosts Harvard

Princeton extended its unbeaten streak to five after a scoreless draw with Drexel on Tuesday night, the final non-conference game of the season. The Tigers are in first place in the Ivy League with a 2-0-1 record - the only undefeated team remaining. Princeton has wins over Columbia and Brown and tied Dartmouth. Seniors Sean McSherry and Jeremy Colvin are the team leaders in points with eight apiece. McSherry has three goals and two assists, while Colvin has four tallies - all of which have been game-winning goals in clutch time. Sophomore Kevin O'Toole chips in six points and classmate Gaby Paniagua has five. Junior Jacob Schachner has started in 11 games this season and has four shutouts with a 0.78 goals against average and a .769 save percentage.
The Tigers have a one-game edge in the all-time series, which dates back to 1909. In the 92 games, Princeton is 42-41-9. Last year the team's played to a 1-1 draw. Harvard won a 3-2 game in 2016, while Princeton took matching 3-2 games in 2014 and 2015.
Harvard enters the weekend with a 3-9 overall record, having lost its last four games. With a 1-2 mark in the Ivy League, the Crimson has a 1-0 win over Yale on Sept. 29 before falling to Cornell 4-2 and Brown 1-0. Alfred Perez has six points, scoring three goals. Taner Dogan and Cesar Farias Jr., have each scored twice, while Nico Garcia-Morilla has four points as well on one tally and two helpers. Matt Freese is the starting goalkeeper with a 3-5 record, a 1.39 GAA and a .782 save percentage. David Paquette and Jorma Gorns have also seen playing time in goal.
