October 11, 2025 | Men's Soccer
ITHACA, N.Y. – In a marquee Ivy League battle, the #9 Princeton men's soccer team blanked the Cornell Big Red, 2-0, on the road in Ithaca on Saturday.
Kristian Kelley and Daniel Ittycheria each scored in the contest, with Kelley sending the ball into the left upper ninety from the outside corner of the box and Ittycheria ripping a laser from way outside.
Tiger goalkeeper Andrew Samuels was a brick wall again, earning his fourth-consecutive shutout while continuing a season of dominance between the posts.
With the win, Princeton improves to 9-1 on the season and 3-0 in the Ivy League, positioning the Tigers first in the league standings.
How It Happened
The first good chance for Princeton came just a few minutes in, as a cross by Ittycheria was deflected up and over the goal.
Keeping the pressure on in the eighth minute, Bardia Hormozi drove the ball up the left side and passed to Liam Beckwith in the middle, who sent the ball to Kelley in the outside corner of the box. Kelley lasered it into the upper left corner of the net to put Princeton up 1-0 early.
Cornell countered with a chance of their own in the 14th, as Giorgos Diakos took a low center shot to force a save from keeper Andrew Samuels.
Sending it the other way, the Tigers continued to ask questions of the Big Red as Ittycheria sent a shot high and Kelley looked for a second goal from outside the box, sending the ball just wide.
Samuels would come up with another stop in the 17th minute, again sending Princeton back the other way.
After continuous knocking, Princeton found a second goal; Ittycheria found the ball at his feet, 20 yards out, and rocketed it into the right side of the net, doubling the Tiger lead from way outside the box.
The Tigers continued to press, but the 2-0 score stood at the half.
Coming out of the break, the Big Red pressed as it looked for a goal, but the Tiger defense limited its chances - allowing just one Cornell shot through 20 minutes of play, which was saved by Samuels.
Princeton looked to add to their lead, taking another eight shots through the remainder of the match.
With the clock ticking down, Cornell pushed to get on the board, with Samuels coming up with two more saves as the Big Red peppered in shots off free kicks deep in the Tigers' end.
Still, the Tiger defense proved to be rock-solid, earning the shutout as the clock expired with the final score 2-0 Princeton.
