Payne and Wilson Named NWPC All-Conference

PRINCETON, N.J. – Matt Payne and Ryan Wilson were selected to the Northeast Water Polo Conference All-Conference teams, the organization announced today.
Payne was honored with a first-team accolade while Wilson was selected to the second team. This is Payne and Wilson's second all-conference honor (2016).
Payne will go down as one of the greatest goal scorers in program history as he currently sits with 232 career tallies, fifth highest all-time. His 67 goals in 2018 paces the Princeton offense and is 13 short of tying the Princeton record set by Christopher Gratian in 2000. He has scored in 24 of the 26 games for the Tigers this year and has 20 multi-goal outings. He has contributed 39 assists, 44 drawn ejections, 16 steals and 10 blocks as well.
Many of Payne's tallies in his career have come off the pass from Wilson, who will graduate as the all-time leader in assists (213). He leads the team in 2018 with 41 assists while his 86 helpers in 2017 were the single-season record. This campaign, the senior has had an assist in 17 matchups, picking up 12 multi-assist games. Wilson has also added 27 goals, drawn 28 ejections and leads the squad with 20 sprint wins.
The Tigers are the No. 3 seed in the NWPC Tournament and will take on the No. 6 seeded Iona Gaels on Friday (Nov. 16) at 2 p.m. The winner of that game moves on to No. 2 St. Francis-Brooklyn on Saturday (Nov. 17) at 3 p.m. The championship contest is Sunday (Nov. 18) at 12:30 p.m. Each game is on ESPN+.
