December 24, 2018 | Women's Basketball
PRINCETON, N.J. – For the first time this season, the Princeton Tigers had two Ivy League weekly award winners as Bella Alarie nabbed her third straight Player of the Week honor while Julia Cunningham was selected as the Rookie of the Week.
Â
Alarie had an excellent game vs. St. Francis-Brooklyn, just missing a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. She was 8-of-16 from the floor, while picking up six assists and three blocks during the victory. The junior was even better vs. Hartford, securing her 22nd career double-double (in 65 career games) in a dominating win. She paced the offense with 24 points, making a personal-high 11 field goals, while nabbing 11 rebounds and five blocks. All of that occurred in just 22 minutes as Princeton secured its sixth straight victory.
Â
The 2018 Ivy League Player of the Year has been extraordinary since returning from injury, posting 19.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.8 blocks, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. This is the 12th time she's picked as the conference's Player of the Week.
Â
Alarie was a six-time Player of the Week award winner last season, while earning nine Ivy Rookie of the Week honors and three more Player of the Week selections as a freshman. She is now tied for third in conference history with her 12 weekly picks and is second in program history, two shy of Niveen Rasheed '13.
Â
Cunningham was outstanding vs. St. Francis-Brooklyn, knocking down five treys, leading the squad with 19 points in the victory. She added seven rebounds and seven assists, all career highs for the guard. All of that was in just 24 minutes of action. She scored eight points in a victory over Hartford on Friday. It's her first conference weekly nomination of her career. She's averaging 6.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists this year.

Princeton has one more contest in 2018 with a trip to New Hampshire on Dec. 29. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. Â
