Women's Swimming & Diving Looks To Stay Perfect vs. Ivies Friday at Columbia
December 06, 2018 | Women's Swimming and Diving
The Princeton women's swimming & diving team will head to Uris Pool in New York City Friday at 5 pm to take on Columbia in the final dual meet of the 2018 portion of the schedule. The Tigers will try to remain perfect against Ivy competition after a 4-0 start in dual meets against league rivals.
Princeton picked up wins over both Brown (159.5-139.5) and Dartmouth (177-122) last weekend during the Bruno Invitational meet in Providence. The Tigers got key Sunday victories from both Carolyn MacFarlane and Stephanie Nelson during the final session of the weekend meet to secure a tight win over the Bears. Earlier in the season, Princeton took wins over both Penn (202-98) and Cornell (176-124) in Ithaca earlier this season.
Princeton has had several strong performances already this season, especially from its IM core. The Tigers currently have four of the eight fastest times this season in the 200 IM, led by Joanna Curry's 2:01.00 from last weekend, while they have the two fastest 400 IM times; reigning Ivy champion Regan Barney has the fastest time of the season (4:16.11), while Curry has the second-fastest (4:16.57).
Princeton has also had strong performances in the back and fly events. Nelson's winning time Sunday of 1:57.88 is the second-fastest in the league this season, while Elaine Zhou (54.41), Izzy Reis (54.42) and Gianna Garcia (54.42) are 4-5-6 this season in the 100 fly.
Princeton will be off for the holidays after the Columbia meet, but will return to DeNunzio Pool Jan. 12 for a meet against Villanova and Rutgers.
