Spring Opener Complete for Princeton

Finishing ahead of a Big Ten team and the only other Ivy in the field, the Princeton women's golf team wrapped its first tournament of the spring season Saturday at the Florida State Match-Up at the Don Veller Seminole Golf Course in Tallahassee, Fla.
In a field with seven Golfstat top-50 teams, seventh-ranked South Carolina won at -16 by five strokes over 13th-ranked Michigan State. The Tigers took 10th at +28, 10 strokes in front of Minnesota and 30 in front of Columbia.
South Carolina's Ainhoa Olarra won at -10 by two strokes over Florida State's Amanda Doherty in a field that included 14 Golfstat top-100 players.
Maya Walton and Amber Wang co-led Princeton, finishing tied for 27th overall at +4.
The Tigers' total score of 892 came within one stroke of matching the program's best 54-hole score of 891, set last season at the Ivy League Championship. Friday's second round, a 4-over 292, was five strokes off the best single round in program history.
